Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Rana & Partners, Advisors & Advocates (“the firm”, “we”) handles information collected through this website. It applies only to this website, and not to any other dealings with the firm.

Last updated: 6 August 2026

Information we collect

There are two kinds of information involved: what you choose to send us, and the technical information that the platform hosting this website records as pages are served.

Information you send us. If you use the enquiry form on the Contact page, we collect the name, email address and message you provide. We ask only for what is needed to understand and respond to your enquiry. You may of course write to us by email or telephone instead, in which case we hold whatever you send in the ordinary course of correspondence.

Technical information. This website is hosted on WordPress.com, a platform operated by Automattic Inc. As with any hosted website, requests to the site are recorded by the platform, and the site loads a small number of components from Automattic’s own servers. In practice this means:

  • Visits are counted by WordPress.com Stats (Jetpack Stats), which is provided by Automattic and loaded from stats.wp.com. It records information such as the page viewed, the page you arrived from, and general details of your browser and device.
  • Automattic also loads a performance-monitoring script (bilmur) that measures how quickly pages load.
  • Some pages load profile images and hovercards from Gravatar, another Automattic service, at 0.gravatar.com. Loading anything from another server necessarily discloses your IP address to that server.
  • The hosting platform keeps ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and operational purposes.

This site does not use Google Analytics. The firm does not place advertising, advertising trackers or cross-site tracking scripts on this website, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

How we use it

We use what you send us only to respond to your enquiry, to check whether the firm is able to act in the matter, and to keep a record of the correspondence.

We use technical information only in aggregate, to see which pages are read and to keep the site working and secure. We do not use any of it for marketing, we do not send newsletters, and we do not sell or rent information to anyone.

Confidentiality note

Information sent through this website is not treated as confidential or privileged, and sending it does not create an advocate–client relationship. Please do not send sensitive or confidential material until the firm has agreed to act for you and a formal engagement is in place.

A short first message describing the nature of the matter is usually enough for us to tell you whether we are able to help.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent information about you. We share it only with the providers who help us run this website and handle correspondence, and only so far as that requires:

  • Automattic Inc. — which provides the WordPress.com hosting on which this site runs, the Jetpack Stats service that counts visits, and the Gravatar service used for profile images. Automattic handles this information under its own privacy policy, published at automattic.com/privacy.

Automattic Inc. is based in the United States and operates its platform globally, so technical information about visits to this site may be processed outside India.

Enquiries reach the firm by email and are dealt with within the firm. Beyond that, we disclose information only where we are required to do so by law or by a court, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

Retention

We keep enquiry correspondence only for as long as it is needed to deal with the matter and to meet the firm’s professional and legal obligations, and no longer. Where an enquiry does not lead to an engagement, we keep only what the firm’s professional obligations require.

Statistics and server logs are held by Automattic as part of the hosting platform and are retained under its arrangements rather than ours.

Your choices

You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You may also ask us to stop contacting you. Write to info@ranaandpartners.com and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.

If part of a record has to be kept because a professional or legal obligation requires it, we will tell you which part and why.

Cookies

The firm does not set advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies on this website, and there are no third-party advertising services here.

Because the site runs on WordPress.com, cookie behaviour is largely determined by Automattic’s platform rather than by us. The platform may set strictly necessary cookies — for example to keep the site secure, to remember a preference, or to recognise you if you are signed in to a WordPress.com account — and the Jetpack Stats service used to count visits is operated by Automattic on the same basis. For the current detail of what the platform sets and why, please see Automattic’s privacy policy and cookie information at automattic.com/privacy.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Doing so will not stop you from reading this site.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time, for instance if the way the site is hosted or measured changes. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the date at the top shows when it was last revised.
