Rana & Partners is a small firm by design. That shapes what it is like to practise here, and who it suits.
What the work is like
The work reaches you sooner.
In a compact team there is no layer between a junior advocate and the matter. You will draft, research and attend to files that a larger firm would keep several rungs above you, and you will do it with senior attention close to the work rather than at a distance from it.
That also means the standard is set early. There is nowhere for unfinished work to sit quietly in a team this size.
What the firm looks for
Four things, mainly.
- Clear written English. Most of the work is drafting, and it shows.
- A genuine interest in commercial law — insolvency, competition, arbitration or transactions.
- Willingness to carry a file rather than wait to be handed parts of one.
- Candour. The firm would rather hear about a problem early than tidily and late.
Who should write
Advocates and interns.
Advocates. The firm is open to applications from advocates enrolled with any State Bar Council. Prior commercial experience is welcome, though what matters more is how you think and write.
Interns. The firm takes a small number of interns through the year. Law students in their third year and above are best placed to make use of the time.
